Product Description

LT5 Engine 368 Cubic Inch, 8 Cylinder Kit

Cylinder Liners, Rods, Pistons, Piston Pins, Rings & Spira Locks

The C4 ZR-1 Corvette LT5 engine began life as a hand built race engine designed by Lotus.  The engine was manufactured to exacting tolerances and hand assembled by Mercury Marine for GM.  The LT5 is legendary for its durability, not being uncommon for 200,000 miles with little indication of wear.  However, rebuilding an LT5 with new, original GM parts is not likely as some new, original parts are no longer available.

Working in conjunction with Graham Behan, Senior Engineer for Lotus on the LT5 engine project, Jerry's Gaskets has developed the ideal, dual purpose, replacement reciprocating parts kit, utilizing the stock crankshaft & compression ratio. Bore diameter is increased from 3.900" to 4.000", resulting in increased displacement of 18 cubic inches and a significant increase in horsepower.

The kit consists of:

  • LA Sleeve 100,000psi ductile iron liners, 0.005"~0.007" undersized 4" bore
  • Oliver 4340 heat treated, ultra precision, light weight, "Speedway" billet steel rods
  • JE Pistons 4.000" forged aluminum, dish top, 11.25 compression ratio
  • JE Pistons High Strength, alloy piston pins, fitted to pistons by JE
  • JE Pistons Pro Seal rings, end gapping required

LT5 special tools are available from Jerrys Gaskets on a first-come basis. Please visit our LT5 Special Tools category for renting details.Torque Plate Set, Cylinder Hone Tool [000]  New liners must be honed to the proper diameter for correct piston/cylinder clearance.  To obtain the best honing results, professional equipment is recommended in conjunction with torque plates installed on both engine banks.

The crankshaft must be re-balanced due to a change of reciprocal weight.
