Produced by King Bearings especially for Jerry's Gaskets

Bearing Set, Crankshaft Main, std size, for 90~95 ZR-1 LT5. Sold by the complete set only.

Each set contains the following bearings;

  • 3ea  PN 12508101  Main bearings for #1, #2 and #4 journals
  • 1ea  PN 12508102  Main bearing for #3 (thrust) journal
  • 1ea  PN 12508103  Main bearing for #5 (rear) journal

NOTE: Oversized Bearings:  After discussing main bearing fitment experience with the best LT5 engine builders, we determined that an 0.0005" over-sized bearing was needed on some engine builds.  Accordingly, we also special ordered a few dozen sets of 0.0005" main bearings.  The oversized bearings are sold as complete sets only.  Please comment on your order if you are ordering the oversized bearings.  If there is no comment, standard bearings will be sent.

Introducing the newest generation of

KING’s Alecular bearing technology…

ALECULAR SI: Preferred OE Material. Versatile ~ Tough ~ Durable

  • Fatigue strengths dramatically improved. SI bearings easily exceed maximum peak load capacity for car and light duty applications.
  • Outstanding service life, exceeds OEM engine durability of 150,000 miles.
  • Allecular SI defends against corrosion caused by unleaded fuels and moisture.
  • Superior temperature threshold to the older tri-metal design.
  • Tougher than tri-metal bearings, Alecular SI bearings minimize debris embedment. Debris goes through the bearing to be filtered out of engine rather than imbedding in the bearing and continually scoring the crankshaft, causing long term damage.
  • Excellent control of wall variance, less than tri-metal (over-plated copper lead) bearings. Because the bearings are not plated, wall variances are reduced by as much as 40%.

You may wonder, "OK, Alecular SI sounds great, but what about the manufacturing standards?"

Bull’s Eye Tolerance Improves Consistency

"Bull’s Eye Tolerance" King’s term for ultra-tight control of wall thickness tolerance.

Inconsistent shell-to-shell bearing wall thickness can have a negative impact on clearances between the bearing and the journal on main and connecting rod bearings. Engine builders typically find themselves having to compensate for these inconsistencies.

King has removed the inconsistency factor by using advanced quality control procedures. Utilizing these statistical control methods, King maintains rod and main bearing wall thickness tolerances at an amazingly tight 0.00010". This is far tighter than other manufacturers, who produce bearings with a wall thickness at the crown that can vary by up to 0.00025".

There are many benefits to "Bull's Eye" control of wall thickness tolerance:

  • Improved consistency of bearing-to-journal clearance, so you never have to worry about King bearings having the right fit within a set.
  • Superior eccentricity and crush relief values for a better oil "wedge" and less journal wear.
  • Decreased taper across the bearing face, yielding superior wall stability, a more parallel wall and better oil film development.
  • No need to grind cranks "fat" or "thin" to compensate for bearing wall variations.
